Cardwell Bush Telegraph Heritage CentreIntroducing Cardwell Bush Telegraph Heritage Centre - Historic Post Office & Telegraph Station, built in 1870 is one of the oldest buildings in North Queensland. Closed in 1983 after serving the public for 113 years it has now reopened as a Heritage Centre and is Cardwell’s link in the Queensland Heritage Trails Network.

Take a walk through the reserve and view Cardwell's former Post Office/Telegraph Station, Shire Hall (now library), Courthouse and Lock-up. Visitors can view the historic Post Offices original postal room with its old telephone exchange and 1870s counter or try their hand sending Morse code. Learn of Cardwell’s local history, the development of the postal and telegraph systems in the Far North and experience life as it use to be

Packages can be sent out to potential group visits.

Normal Opening Hours
Monday - Friday, 10am - 1pm
Saturday 9 AM – 12 Noon, or other times by appointment.
Sunday/Public Holidays - Closed / or as displayed.
Extended operating hours are likely to occur during the tourist season.
