Fishing
From
the jetty or the rockwalls lining the canal near Port Hinchinbrook
boat ramp at any time or tide although you will probably be
more successful mornings and evenings. Alternatively try fishing
from the beach on at least half tide or more, or at the Edmund
Kennedy National Park.
Boat
Ramps
- Port
Hinchinbrook, Cardwell
- Meunga
Creek northern end of Cardwell
- Fishers
Landing 22km south of Cardwell
- Marine
Parade, Cardwell
- All
boat ramps except Port Hinchinbrook have LIMITED tide access
Crabbing
Off the
jetty at any time. Bait up the dilly pots with a frame and
drop it over the jetty. No skill required! Every 20 minutes
or so pull up the dilly to check for a sand crab or a "muddie".
Note: it is illigal to take femals crabs. Check bag size and
limits.
Netting
Cast
a net for prawns and/or bait anywhere along the waterfront.
The best time is very early morning providing this coincides
with a near-high tide and calm conditions. On account of rocks
and or oysters it is advisable to avoid the area within 10m
of the foreshore boat ramp. Casting a net from the jetty is
not permitted.
